As Americans prepare to observe the 61st annual National Day of Prayer this week, the usual debate over interpretation of the First Amendment of the Constitution, specifically the Establishment Clause, also takes center stage. But this year is special, according to some, because the May 3 observance also marks the 50th anniversary of the Supreme Court's decision that invalidated official prayer in public schools. "Some religious believers will likely use the day of prayer to call attention to what they view as a regrettable and consequential decision," John Inazu, a First Amendment expert and professor of law at Washington University...

Our 61st annual NDP observance is just around the corner, and I want to let you know how deeply we value your friendship and support. As the Chairman of the National Day of Prayer Task Force, Id like to take this opportunity to speak to you about a matter that is crucial to the future of our nation prayer! In 2 Chronicles 7:14, the Lord proclaims If my people, who call on My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, I will forgive their...

It is likely that someone at the Internal Revenue Service illegally leaked confidential donor information showing a contribution from Mitt Romneys political action committee to the National Organization for Marriage, says the group. In a letter exclusively obtained by The Daily Caller, the organization has asked the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration to investigate and learn the source of the breach and prosecute those responsible to the fullest extent of the law. It also provided evidence suggesting the leak might have been the result of IRS employee misconduct. The dispute stems from a March 30 post on the pro-gay...

Follow the bouncing ball. Former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum has now bounced to a 12-point lead over Mitt Romney in the race for the Republican presidential nomination. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of Likely Republican Primary Voters finds Santorum with 39% support to the former Massachusetts governors 27%. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich follows from a distance with 15% of the vote, and Texas Congressman Ron Paul runs last with 10%. Three percent (3%) like some other candidate in the race, and six percent (6%) are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.) Just over a week...

Gingrich 35% Romney 28 Santorum 16 Paul 10 Well, that happened quite a bit quicker than I expected- Newt out 7 points on Mittens nationally. If you missed it, Gallup already had the Former House Speaker hypothetically in a statistical dead-heat with Obama, too... maybe he's 'electable' after all, eh. And another thing you hear from the other side is stuff about Newts considerable ego and megalomaniac, etc. Well, consider this: the ball is REALLY teed up for any whod like to be a conservative hero of all time
think about it. The opportunity is right there,...

Newt Gingrich has opened a major lead nationally over Mitt Romney, who is still stuck in roughly the same place he has been throughout the year, according to new NBC/WSJ poll numbers. At the same time, Gingrich has real red flags for a general election, the survey found. In the GOP matchups, Gingrich is at 40 percent to Romney's 23 percent. Everyone else is in single digits - Ron Paul gets 9 percent, Michele Bachmann 8 percent, Rick Perry 6 percent, Jon Huntsman 5 percent and Rick Santorum 3 percent.

Newt Gingrich is the clear front-runner for the 2012 Republican nomination -- and the biggest beneficiary of Herman Cains departure from the race. Mitt Romney, again, holds steady with about a quarter of GOP primary voters in his camp.A Fox News poll released Thursday shows Gingrich up 13 percentage points since mid-November. Cain suspended his campaign on December 3. In the latest snapshot of the race, Gingrich receives the backing of 36 percent of GOP primary voters. Thats up from 23 percent last month -- and is three times the 12 percent he had in late October. It also represents...

For a moment, imagine a future where you are not able to drive a car, get on a plane, get on a train, vote, enter a federal building, open a bank account or get a job without a national ID card. You don't think that could ever happen in America? Well, you might want to brush up on the Real ID Act because it is going to go into effect on May 11, 2011 unless something is done to stop it. When I first learned this, I was absolutely stunned. After all, wasn't the Real ID Act supposed to be...

John "Never-met-a-bank-that-should-not-be-made-smaller" Huntsman in last night's CNBC debate made a solid case for "properly sized banks." Perry strengthened John-the-Bank-Hunter's plan by saying: "If you are to big to fail, you are just to big." Both Presidential Candidates were borrowing heavily from the Former Head-of-the-Fed, High Poo Bah, Renowned Socialist, and Inventor of the Current Intellectual basis for Banks, and Governments Worldwide, the Ultimate Socialist Safety Net/ Hammock: TO BIG TO FAIL. Yes indeedy! If you stumble we will catch you! If you even "feel" you MIGHT stumble we will give you green pillows stuffed full of a never-ending supply of...

The financial death spiral of the US Federal Government has been caused by financially irresponsible politicians during the last 80 years. Their lack of stewardship has resulted in them charging us with a National Debt of 14.8 TRILLION dollars, which must be paid back, plus interest, to those who we borrowed the money from. We have indeed allowed these same politicians to cruelly burden our own grandchild with this horrific National Debt. We have no one to blame but ourselves for electing them in the first place, and not impeaching them when they failed to spend our money within our...

Tax Reform: His campaign flagging, GOP presidential candidate Rick Perry is about to unveil what he hopes will be a game-changer: a flat tax. Whether it works for him or not, we're glad to see this bold idea part of the mix. We like Herman Cain a lot. But his 9-9-9 tax plan, not so much. Perry, no doubt trying to recoup some of his lost support, will unveil a flat tax proposal on Tuesday as a counter-salvo to Cain's popular idea. Count us among the intrigued. Sure, as the cliche goes, the devil is in the details. We don't...
